Zutano

Zutano is the common rootstock used for most grafted avocado varieties, valued for its excellent ability to take grafts, high vigour and better frost tolerance. It has high cold tolerance so can perform in marginal growing areas. The fruit has a shiny light green skin and is more fibrous and watery than other varieties — less suitable for eating fresh but useful as a rootstock tree. A Type B flowering avocado that grows into a large tree with an upright habit.
