Winter Nelis

Winter Nelis is one of the finest late-season pears — small to medium green fruit with reddish russet patches and outstandingly buttery, rich, sweet flavour. One of the best keepers of any pear, storing well into winter. Small fruit size belies exceptional eating quality — many connoisseurs consider it one of the finest-flavoured of all pears. Partially self-fertile. Late season into May–June. Growing to 4m×2.5m. Available at Wairere and specialist NZ heritage nurseries.
