Walnut Rex (Juglans Regia Rex)

Walnut Rex (Juglans regia 'Rex') is a compact, more manageable walnut variety compared to most other Juglans regia selections — easier to manage in a home garden or smaller property. Produces small, well-sealed nuts with good colour, flavour and storage ability. One of the best main-crop commercial cultivars for yield relative to tree size. Shows some resistance to walnut blight, reducing the need for protective sprays. Sensitive to waterlogged soils — excellent drainage is essential. Self-fertile. Deciduous. Available from specialist NZ walnut nurseries.
