Von Wertenheim

Von Wertenheim is a German heritage prune-type plum — a zwetschgen variety — producing small, dark purple fruit mid-season. Excellent keeping ability after harvest and outstanding for drying into prunes, where the concentrated flavour of a small, dry-fleshed prune type is at its most intense. A reliable, productive variety. The European prune types like Von Wertenheim are among the best-suited heritage plums for drying and long-term preserving. Self-fertile. Available from NZ heritage nurseries.
