Victoria

Victoria is one of the most well-known heritage plum varieties in the world, and is now well established in New Zealand. Dark purple, egg-shaped fruit with yellow flesh, freestone to semi-freestone. Mid-to-late season, reliable and versatile — excellent fresh eating, cooking, bottling and preserving. A classic with gentle, sweet flavour. Self-fertile. Came from the Jim Cox collection at Tangiteroria, Northland, where Jim sold these plums at Whangarei markets in the 1950s. Widely available at NZ nurseries including Wairere and The Plant Company.
