Tayberry

Tayberry is a hybrid berry — a cross between a blackberry and a red raspberry — producing long, dark red to purple berries with a rich, aromatic flavour that combines the best of both parents. Slightly sharper than a boysenberry, with a distinctive fragrance when fully ripe. Semi-erect canes with spines. Excellent for jams, desserts and fresh eating when fully ripe and dark. Self-fertile. Developed in Scotland. Popular in NZ home gardens for its unusual flavour profile.
