Tangshi

Tangshi is a self-fertile sour cherry variety with red skin and distinctively yellow flesh — an unusual characteristic that sets it apart from the dark-fleshed Morello-type sour cherries. Mainly used for cooking, processing, jam and juice. The yellow flesh stays pale when cooked, making it useful for clear or pale-coloured preserves. A small, manageable self-fertile tree suited to most NZ regions. An interesting and practically self-sufficient addition to the home orchard. Available from specialist NZ nurseries.
