Taihape

The Taihape Quince originates from a heritage tree at the Brown Sugar Café in Taihape. The fruit is large with smooth, yellow skin and produces prolific crops of golden-yellow fruit. Quite fungal disease resistant — a genuine advantage for organic growers. Grows to approximately 3–4m. A good variety for warmer areas including Auckland and Northland. Self-fertile. Available from specialist NZ nurseries.
