Skeena
Skeena is a mid-season sweet cherry variety developed in British Columbia, Canada, ripening in mid January in NZ. It produces large, very firm, dark red to near-black cherries with a rich, sweet flavour and dense flesh. Particularly valued for its crack resistance, as Skeena's firm skin holds up well in wet conditions that can cause splitting in other varieties. Self-fertile and a reliable, productive cropper. A good choice for home orchards in cooler NZ regions.
