Shannon Walnut (Juglans Regia)

Shannon is a NZ-bred walnut (Juglans regia) propagated by Vernon Harrison in New Zealand — producing top quality, large crops of good-flavoured nuts that are easy to crack. A premium NZ walnut selection that performs reliably across a wide range of NZ conditions. Self-fertile, producing from around 5 years old, but heavier crops result from planting with Wilson's Wonder or Meyric as companions. Grows to approximately 15m×12m — requiring significant space. Tolerant of most soil conditions provided they are well-draining. A handsome deciduous specimen tree. Grafted. Available from Kiwiflora Nurseries and specialist NZ walnut nurseries.
