Sefton

Sefton is a low-chill black currant variety specifically suited to the warmer areas of NZ — an important characteristic since most black currant varieties require a cold winter period to crop reliably. Sefton's lower chill requirement makes it one of the few black currant options for Northland, Auckland and other warmer North Island regions. Self-fertile. Deciduous. Excellent for cordial, jam and preserves. Available from specialist NZ berry nurseries.
