Seckel

Seckel is a small, gourmet American heritage pear originating in Pennsylvania around 1800 and renowned for its exceptional flavour, often considered the finest tasting of all pear varieties. It produces small, pear-shaped fruit with creamy white, very sweet and juicy flesh that is intensely aromatic. The compact tree is ideal for home gardens and shows good resistance to fireblight, a significant advantage in NZ growing conditions. Partially self-fertile, though crops improve with a nearby pollinator such as Beurre Bosc or Doyenné du Comice.
