Satsuma (Mandarin)

Satsuma mandarin is the most cold-hardy of all mandarin varieties — a frost-tolerant, seedless type with thin, easy-peel skin and sweet, juicy, mild flesh. The quintessential winter mandarin, ripening May to June. Self-fertile. One of the few citrus varieties that can succeed in cooler NZ growing areas with light frost. Widely available at NZ nurseries including Wairere, The Plant Company and garden centres nationwide. Growing to 2–3m in a sunny, sheltered position.
