Reka (NH)

Reka is a New Zealand variety of northern highbush blueberry which was released by Ruakura Research Centre in 1985. It's parentage is E118 (Earliblue x Ashworth) x Bluecrop. It is considered the best producer of the early varieties. It produces large loose clusters of good-flavoured medium sized berries (12-14mm) similar of Bluecrop. Berries tend to be darker than Puru or Nui but are firm and handle well. Outstanding plant vigour, with an upright growth habit and is well adapted to minerals soils. Best suited for all districts from Waikato, south. Recommended spacing of 1.2-1.5 metres between plants.
