Red Delicious

Red Delicious is one of the most recognisable apple varieties in the world — a large, heart-shaped fruit with striking bright red skin, sometimes striped, and crunchy, very juicy flesh with a mild, sweet flavour. Originally discovered as a chance seedling in Iowa in the 1870s, it became the dominant commercial apple of the 20th century. Best eaten fresh and at room temperature. Mid-season. Requires a pollinator. Available at NZ nurseries nationwide.
