Red Chief

Red Chief is a deeply coloured red sport of the Red Delicious apple, developed in Virginia, USA. It produces striking deep red, elongated fruit with white, crisp and juicy flesh and a mild, sweet flavour. Compared to standard Red Delicious, Red Chief has more consistent red colouration across the whole fruit. A mid to late season variety, it is primarily suited to fresh eating. Requires a mid-season pollinator.
