Rainier (Cherry)

Rainier is a premium sweet cherry variety developed at Washington State University in 1952, producing large, beautiful fruit with yellow skin and a distinctive red blush. The flesh is firm, cream-coloured and exceptionally sweet with low acidity — widely regarded as one of the finest eating cherries available. Rainier cherries are named for Mount Rainier in Washington State. Birds are very attracted to the pale-coloured fruit. Requires a compatible pollinator such as Stella, Lapins or Bing. Mid-season. Available at NZ cherry nurseries.
