Puru (NH)

Puru is a New Zealand-bred northern highbush blueberry variety that ripens early to mid-season, one of the first blueberries ready before the school year starts. It produces good crops of large, firm, light blue berries with excellent flavour. An upright grower, Puru is well suited to Waikato and southward where sufficient winter chill hours are available. In warmer areas it may also produce a light autumn crop. Will produce best when planted with another Northern Highbush variety: Bluecrop, Blue Joy, Dixi, Duke, Nui or Reka.
