Purple King

Purple King is a classic Japanese plum variety producing large, attractive purple-skinned fruit with sweet, juicy yellow flesh. Ripens late January. A vigorous, heat- and humidity-tolerant variety that performs well across warmer NZ regions — particularly useful in the more humid north. A quality dessert plum for fresh eating. Requires a pollinator: Duff's Early Jewel, Sultan or Red Doris. Growing to 5m×3m. A popular and reliable choice for NZ home gardens. Available at Wairere and other NZ nurseries.
