Prima

Prima is an early-season apple developed in the USA in 1958 as part of the PRI disease resistance breeding programme. It produces medium to large fruit with mostly red skin and creamy-white, juicy flesh. A notable advantage of Prima is its strong resistance to black spot (apple scab), making it a good choice for home orchardists growing organically or with minimal spraying. Ripens around February to March in New Zealand. Self-fertile, though crops benefit from a nearby pollinator.
