Precoce Morettini is an Italian heritage pear variety originating in 1956, producing early season, sweet, juicy, golden fruit — one of the earlier-ripening European pears available in NZ. The early harvest makes it valuable for extending the pear season forward. Compatible with quince rootstocks. Requires a pollinator. Deciduous. A useful early variety for home gardeners wanting pears ahead of the main season. Available from specialist NZ heritage nurseries and Koanga Institute.
