Pouto Sugar

Pouto Sugar lives up to it's name producing a very sweet fig. An early producer of small, pear shaped, red brown colour on one end with pale flesh. Allow 4-8m (depends on pruning). This fig was used as a sweetener, i.e was dried/ bottled and then added to other dishes. Pouto Sugar was given to Koanga Institute by Logan Forrest of Pouto.
