Picual

Picual is the world's most widely grown commercial olive variety — originating in Spain and accounting for over half of Spain's olive production. Produces heavy yields of early-ripening, medium-sized fruit with very high oil content and excellent flavour. An attractive, vigorous evergreen tree. Best suited to drier NZ regions as it can be susceptible to excessive humidity. Self-fertile but benefits from cross-pollination. A premium oil olive. Available from NZ specialist olive nurseries.
