Nijiseiki

Nijiseiki is a Japanese nashi (Asian pear) variety — also known as Twentieth Century pear — producing medium-sized, round, smooth-skinned fruit with crisp, juicy, sweet, creamy-white flesh. The name means 'Twentieth Century' in Japanese, reflecting when it was introduced. A good pollinator for other nashi varieties. Nashis are ready to eat as soon as they reach full size, unlike European pears which need ripening off the tree. Self-fertile. Available at Wairere and NZ nurseries.
