Montmorency (Sour)

Montmorency is one of the most popular and widely grown sour cherry varieties in the world — an Amarelle type producing bright red-skinned cherries with clear juice from pale flesh. Excellent for cherry pie, juice and preserves. Ripening around Christmas to New Year. Requires approximately 700 chilling hours for reliable fruit set, making it best suited to cooler NZ regions. A vigorous, productive tree. Self-fertile. One of the most health-regarded cherry varieties, high in antioxidants and anthocyanins.
