Modesto

Modesto, a common commercial variety, produces dark red cherries of medium size in early summer. With a lovely flavour, the red flesh is juicy and sweet. It does require a pollinator, to set fruit (Stella is a good companion). It grows as an upright tree, to about 5m tall and 3m wide and is an attractive tree in a garden setting. Like other cherries, it requires a decently cold winter to set fruit.
