Mary Louise

Mary Louise is a heritage European pear originating in Belgium in 1809 — one of the oldest named pear varieties still grown in NZ. Produces medium to large, golden, sweet, juicy fruit. A late-season variety, extending the fresh pear harvest well into autumn. Partially self-fertile but benefits from a pollinator. Deciduous, growing to 5m×3m. A living connection to over 200 years of pear-growing heritage. Available from Koanga Institute and specialist NZ heritage nurseries.
