Mallika

Mallika is an exceptional Indian mango hybrid producing medium to large fruit with intensely fruity, floral, citrusy aroma and complex honey-citrus-melon flavour with minimal fibre. 21–24% sugar. Firm yet melting flesh. December–January harvest. A highly regarded modern Indian variety. Mangoes require frost-free, sheltered conditions in NZ — viable in Northland, Auckland and Bay of Plenty. Indian varieties are strongly recommended over South American or Mexican types for NZ gardens. Available from Ben's Garden, Kaitaia.
