Lucas (Pecan Carya Lucas)

The pecan variety Lucas is a prolific bearer of pecans. The tree will bear pecans after 5 to 7 years. The pecans are thin shelled rich in flavour and easily shell out. Plant in full sun, with moist well drained fertile soil. Deciduous.

Pecans have both male and female flowers, but they do not bloom at the same time. Essentially this means that a single pecan tree cannot self-pollinate. Therefore, plant at least 2 trees of different varieties for the best chances of nut production.
