Long Bay (Chestnut)

Long Bay is a NZ-selected sweet chestnut variety from the Long Bay area, producing good crops of quality nuts. Used as a pollinator for Crewena 1 chestnut — an important companion planting role. Chestnuts must be planted with a companion variety for reliable nut production as cross-pollination is essential. Deciduous, large tree reaching 10–15m at maturity. Nuts harvested March to April. Excellent roasted. Available from specialist NZ chestnut nurseries.
