Lapins

Lapins is one of the most widely grown commercial sweet cherry varieties in NZ — large, dark red fruit with firm, juicy flesh and excellent flavour. Self-fertile. Better suited to the cooler, drier climates of the South Island and central North Island where cherries perform best. In warmer, more humid areas, rain-splitting can be an issue. A reliable, high-yielding variety also used extensively as a pollinator for other cherry varieties. Available at Wairere and NZ nurseries nationwide.
