Langra

Langra is a heritage North Indian mango variety with one distinctive feature: the skin stays green even when fully ripe. Richly flavoured, aromatic flesh with low fibre. A highly regarded variety in India, particularly from the Varanasi region. The green skin can catch first-time growers off guard — judge ripeness by feel and fragrance rather than colour. Mangoes require frost-free, sheltered conditions in NZ. Available from Ben's Garden, Kaitaia.
