Kumquat (Meiwa)

Meiwa is a round kumquat variety with a notably sweeter balance than the oval Nagami — the sweet edible skin and slightly less sour flesh make it the most approachable kumquat for fresh eating. Spicy and sweet, excellent for marmalade, preserves and candied fruit. A showy, compact shrub with attractive dark glossy leaves that is excellent for containers and small gardens. Self-fertile. Available at The Plant Company and specialist NZ citrus nurseries.
