Kieffer

Kieffer is a robust American heritage pear variety — a cross between European pear and Chinese pear — producing large, yellow-green fruit with crisp, gritty flesh and a mild flavour. Extremely hardy and disease-resistant. Better for cooking, bottling and preserving than fresh eating. One of the toughest pear varieties suited to a wide range of NZ conditions. Self-fertile. Available from Koanga Institute on Quince BA29 rootstock.
