Kesar

Kesar is the primary mango variety grown at Ben's Garden, Kaitaia — and the most proven mango for NZ conditions. A premium Indian variety with saffron-scented, spicy-floral aroma and smooth, creamy flesh with a hint of tanginess. 19–24% sugar content. When you buy tinned mango pulp, it is almost always Kesar. January–February harvest. Mangoes are viable in frost-free Northland, Auckland and Bay of Plenty with shelter. Compact dwarf variants are being developed. Available from Ben's Garden, Kaitaia.
