Kaeo
Kaeo is a NZ heritage fig variety named for Kaeo in Northland — a region with a long history of fig growing in warmer NZ conditions. Produces very large figs with a distinctive long shape. Green skin that turns amber when ripe, with light red flesh inside. One of the largest-fruited fig varieties. All NZ figs are self-fertile — no pollinator required. Grows to 4–5m in a warm, sunny, sheltered position. A genuine NZ heritage variety suited to Northland and warmer areas. Available from specialist nurseries.
