IXL

IXL is a self-fertile almond variety with good disease resistance — two significant advantages for NZ home gardens. Produces large, soft-shelled nuts with a sweet, pleasant flavour and is a reliable, heavy producer. Also a good pollinator for other almond varieties. Self-fertile, so it can be grown successfully as a single tree. Excellent fresh, toasted, sliced or used in baking. Requires a warm, dry, sunny position with excellent drainage.
