Ice Apfel

Ice Apfel is a chance roadside discovery — a pretty apple with white skin and a pink flush. Small-to-medium sized fruit that is tart, crisp and juicy. The fruit hangs well on the tree and can be picked crisp in winter. The original tree was very old when found in the Gowan Valley. There is a possibility it is the Hawthornden apple, originating in Scotland in 1780, but this has not been confirmed. Harvest timing has not been formally documented. Available from Koanga Institute.
