Hua Moa

Hua Moa can be used as a cooking banana when green or as a fresh eating banana when fully ripe. The fruit is sweet when fully ripe and is large and plump. Has poor cold tolerance, making it unsuitable for most NZ areas outside of warm Northland and coastal Bay of Plenty. Grows to around 3–5m. Best in a warm, sheltered, frost-free position with rich soil and adequate moisture.
