Hirschi Pecan

Hirschi is a reliable pecan variety producing medium-sized, thin-shelled nuts with excellent flavour — a high-quality choice for NZ home orchards. A Northern cultivar suited to shorter growing seasons, making it one of the more widely applicable pecan varieties across NZ regions. Grows to 9m×3m in 7–10 years, with an attractive multi-branched form and beautiful golden autumn foliage. Nuts mature May to June and fall naturally from the tree when ripe. First crops appear 5–7 years after planting. Self-fertile but significantly more productive when cross-pollinated with Lucas. Plant in full sun with deep, moist, well-drained, fertile soil. Available at Wairere Nursery and The Plant Company.
