Hicks Early (Mulberry)

Hicks Early Mulberry (Hick's Early) is a hybrid mulberry — a cross between White Mulberry (Morus alba) and Red Mulberry (Morus rubra) — producing dark red to black fruit approximately 15mm long, similar in appearance to a boysenberry. An early-season mulberry. Fast growing, can be kept compact by pruning. Self-fertile — all mulberries in NZ are self-fertile. Excellent fresh or for jam, juice and freezing. A productive and vigorous tree. Available from specialist NZ nurseries.
