Gooseberry

Gooseberry Apple is a heritage English variety originating around 1831 — not related to gooseberry fruit at all, but named for its interesting uneven, lobed shape and greenish-yellow skin with some russet. Sharp and tart with good acidity, it cooks down to an excellent, well-flavoured purée. A real curiosity for heritage apple enthusiasts. Partially self-fertile. Mid-season.
