Ginkgo Biloba

Ginkgo Biloba (Maidenhair Tree) is one of the oldest tree species on Earth, producing edible seeds (ginkgo nuts) that are widely used in Asian cuisine — roasted or used in congee, stir-fries and traditional dishes. Highly valued in traditional medicine. Striking fan-shaped leaves turn brilliant golden-yellow in autumn. Very long-lived and hardy. Note: seedling-grown plants have unknown sex until mature — only female trees produce nuts, and female trees have a strong smell when fruiting. Male trees are odour-free and ornamental. Confirmed at Koanga Institute (seedling).
