Giant Granadilla

Giant Granadilla is a large-fruited passionfruit species producing impressive, extra large green or yellow fruit with sweet, edible pulp and a rind that is also edible. It is a vigorous, self-fertile climbing vine with striking ornamental flowers, well suited to warm NZ gardens where it can be grown on a pergola or large trellis. Incredible Edibles stocks this variety. The Giant Granadilla requires more warmth than the standard purple passionfruit and performs best in Northland, Auckland and the Bay of Plenty, or in very sheltered, warm positions further south. The fruit has a milder, sweeter flavour than the more acidic purple varieties. Plant in full sun in well-drained, fertile soil with regular watering during the growing season.
