Ennis

Ennis is a hazelnut variety producing good crops of notably large nuts. Moderately vigorous. Sensitive to dry conditions — will not perform well in hot, dry situations without adequate irrigation, but rewards with large, high-quality nuts where moisture is sufficient. Requires a pollinator such as Barcelona or Tonda di Giffoni. Deciduous shrub to 3–4m. Nuts harvested March to April. A premium large-nutted variety for NZ home nut orchards. Available from specialist NZ nut nurseries.
