English Morello (Sour)

English Morello is the classic sour or cooking cherry, producing large crops of small to medium-sized dark red cherries that deepen to almost black when fully ripe. The flesh is soft, very juicy and powerfully tart when raw, but develops a rich, full-bodied cherry flavour when cooked, making it outstanding for pies, tarts, jams, preserves and cherry liqueur. A naturally small tree with a graceful drooping habit, it is one of the few cherry varieties that can tolerate some shade. Self-fertile and a consistent, reliable cropper.
