Democrat originated in Australia around 1900 — a beautiful dark red, flat-shaped apple that has the unusual quality of hanging on the tree well into winter without deteriorating. Juicy, crisp and sweet. The ability to leave fruit on the tree into winter extends the fresh harvest season considerably. A useful and attractive heritage variety. Requires a pollinator. Late season.
