Crowley (Cranberry)

Crowley is one of the two main cranberry varieties (Vaccinium macrocarpon) available at NZ home garden nurseries. A hardy evergreen groundcover growing to 10cm high and spreading to 2m wide. Small pink-white flowers in spring followed by bright red berries in autumn. Mid-season variety. Sweet flavour that improves after the first frosts. Grows in partial shade and moist, free-draining acidic soil. Self-fertile. Available at Greenleaf and The Plant Company.
