Clapp’s

Clapp's Favourite is a heritage American pear originating in Massachusetts around 1860, producing large, golden fruit with an attractive pink blush. Sweet, juicy, second-early season — one of the earlier-ripening European pears. The attractive appearance and good flavour made it a favourite in NZ orchards for generations. Does not store long — best eaten soon after picking at its peak. Partially self-fertile but benefits from a pollinator nearby. Available from heritage NZ nurseries.
