Castanea Sativa 1015 (Chestnut)

Castanea Sativa 1015 is a NZ-selected sweet chestnut variety producing heavy crops of medium to large chestnuts. Somewhat prone to wind damage — site in a sheltered position. Chestnuts are harvested in autumn and are excellent roasted, boiled or used in stuffings and festive cooking. Cross-pollination with another Castanea variety significantly improves nut set. A large, vigorous, long-lived deciduous tree. Hardy across most NZ conditions. Available from specialist NZ chestnut nurseries.
